Thanksgiving 2023

When we think of Thanksgiving, many reflect what they are grateful for.  I wrote this a week before Thanksgiving. The word “pause” came to mind.  Pause whatever you are doing or thinking about.  You may arrive to a place you need to be.

Today’s update, a day after many celebrated Thanksgiving, a “pause” was announced for Israeli/Hamas hostage negotiations.

Consider that the world is swirling around you with many events, many that are tragic and that we can do little about.  What about pausing, because that is within your control.  When you do, what do you want to think about?  Your personal achievements at work, at home, in your community?  Seems like something worth remembering and holding as a good reflection.  Have you rallied around an important cause that benefits humanity?  Sometimes we do these things and soon forget them.

How many friends and associates come to mind, that you sent a text to, called, wrote and they responded? Somewhere in all this someone probably felt better for the connection.

I heard someone say they were grateful they got up this morning.  But that was just one thought.  They said so many things had to happen for this to occur.  Indeed, this happens to millions throughout the world.  But if you really put your mind to it, you probably know someone who fits in this category.

We have learned you don’t have to be in the same space to have a positive impact.  When you share your expertise, your passion, and actions, you impact either the mission or people.  If you haven’t connected with someone this year, there is still time.

If you have survived a shooting, a flood, a fire, an earthquake, a job loss, a family loss, a list that goes on and on, I hope this fills you with gratitude.  If you are a generous person, be grateful that you have been given a heart of generosity.  When you live generously you have more opportunities to be grateful.

No matter the circumstances there is always something to be thankful for.  This year let’s remember we aren’t thankful for the circumstance but inwardly learn how to be thankful no matter what we are going through. Choose gratitude.  Perspective is most often the key to happiness.  It’s not where would I be.  Who would I be.  Blessings and Peace!
