Four Years Later,…Five Generations, One Nation, Under God

Today is National Women’s Equality Day. Women were granted the right to vote 104 years ago.

I am both ecstatic to mark this milestone and to cogitate on what the future holds.

Perhaps the number one captive thought I have is that I get to choose how I will live my best life. Daily I try to be mindful that I do not squander the opportunity.  The more I see and hear, the more grateful I become.  So “what about it”?   Almost four years ago to the date, I completed 37 years working for the Department of Defense for the United States of America.  I met many people who represented different ethnicities, cultures, and those who didn’t necessarily share some of my values.  But in the end, we worked together to get the mission accomplished.  There can be no price tag for that.  I became proficient in my career field, loved what I experienced, learned, and achieved, but I knew there was more for me to see and do.

I have recently seen, tasted, and felt a connection with people representing this country with backgrounds from many other countries in a thirty day span. My reflections focused on so many diverse people waving flags and speeches about democracy for all America. I previously watched the Olympics in Paris and the USA athletes who competed under the American flag or countries where they held dual citizenship. I listened to Athletes in Action on YouVersion and the gospel presented Live in Amsterdam in two languages and song. My family and I went to a Florida resort, where we survived Tropical Storm Debby, and spent time in Disney parks watching people of all walks of life, celebrating one thing, fun.

What the future holds, only God knows. I know God gives strength; just ask an 84 year old in 90+ humid degrees. Just ask the athletes who ran races and jumped over hurdles or ran with COVID in their lungs.
I don’t need the political pundits to tell me what the future holds.  I give glory to God who is the only one who is worthy and wonderful! I will continue to see something, say something, do something. I support change and I will become the change I want tGo see.

I am honored to have written and published a book that says we all have a story. Check it out:https://bit.ly/3SHKbPB
