Today is Veteran’s Day, 11/11/2024. We owe our military thanks and appreciation (my grandfather, my father, my husband, my sisters, my uncle, my cousins, and friends, and strangers), who served time defending this country and others. Many paid the price for other countries to be free. We say freedom in this country, even when many were not or are not free here.
Last week many people elected the 47th president in America. For those reading outside this country, we are not a United Nation. Time will tell where we are headed.
The week after next, many will celebrate Thanksgiving. It was the pilgrims and Native Americans who gave rise to the day friends and family gather to eat, shop, and maybe serve food to others. And yet many claim this country is for just some of the people.
As a Christian, God, Jesus, Holy Spirit believer, not an evangelical, or Christian Nationalist, my beliefs are my own, although shared with others. I am grateful for my family and yet at the same time I must be concerned about their future. Many will never know what that is like. I write to share, to be above the fray, and perhaps so others know how people like me, still have many friends who may not think like me, and yet we are friends.
I write to say I can be consistently content no matter the circumstances, and despite temporary sadness, pain, numbness, and disbelief. I have learned that the inner soul can never have peace if it relies on man, chases wealth, believes lies, and just all in all follows dishonorable people, which can be any race, creed or color. I have peace.
I am grateful that I can still talk to many people I don’t know, on a weekly podcast with my sister. Our information is to give value to any woman. We don’t give allegiance to any particular people. Although I am mindful of what has been and what might be, my gratitude list continues to grow.
What is your “Why” when you get up every day? I am thankful for every day, for so many reasons, so I must live that way. As I start my day, I am inspired by reading positive words, stories, and prayers to keep me grounded and grateful. Life is full of challenges but that just makes us more resilient. We can be knocked down, but we will get back up. No one will steal my joy because I know the One who is in control. I become stronger and calmer! I don’t rely on my strength or get caught up in other people’s drama. I rely on God to cover me and to get me through tough times. He will overcome the world.
I will remain true to my book and heritage: Five Generations, One Nation, Under God. Check it out!
